Mining stars produces stardust which can be exchanged for bags full of gems in Falador, an easy way to get dragon stones and other uncut gems in quantities that are a viable way to train crafting. It can be a good money maker to craft and enchant jewelry for alching. My way is to travel to the crafting guild (castle wars teleport from basic jewelry box, take the balloon to the crafting guild; a brown apron is obtainable from your POH workshop) smelt the bars in Edgeville, drop half, cut the gems, craft the jewelry, pick up the gold bars, enchant and alch the jewelry and continue.
Celestial ring
The celestial ring costs 2000 stardust at the same store, adds an invisible +4 boost to mining, and can be charged with the stardust (to store it) and that makes the ring give a chance to mine an extra resource.
